Apparently, Google has started to cover more countries in the world by this year in 2024. After a spotting in the city of Kathmandu in Nepal, a vehicle was spotted with a 360-degree camera for mapping.

Unfortunately, the camera is of poor quality, so the coverage is not expected to have very good images of the country. This is not the first time that Google has preferred quantity over quality, it has been seen in several Asian countries such as Cambodia where much of the coverage looks too ugly compared to the Gen 3 coverage released in 2023.

Google has been planning to cover parts of South Asia, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh were originally covered using these cameras but opted to use Gen 4 cameras instead.

This is already becoming usual for Google where they have been covering entire countries, Lebanon and Sao Tome are a clear example that these cameras are starting to be used much more in countries of the Global South and further indicate a downgrade in how the company has preferred to provide mediocre quality services to certain regions.
