After new Gen 4 Pickups were spotted in Ecuador, Google is taking a much more expansive approach in Latin America, this time the Gen 4 car was reported circulating through the streets of the Peruvian city of Yurimaguas located in the Department of Loreto in the Peruvian Amazon.

Yumiraguas is the only city where it is connected to the rest of the country, the capital of the department which is Iquitos is not accessible by road and a ferry is required to access the city.

Loreto

The first spotting in the city was captured by the local news media "Yurimaguas Entérate" via Facebook in the middle of April 2024. Google first drove on certain streets of Yumiraguas during July 2013 and the latest update to the imagery of the city was made in January 2014.

Despite this, Yumiraguas has very little coverage available in which only certain parts of the urban center are covered and the road that crosses the Paranapura River.

Since the car was seen circulating in a commercial area, it is expected that Google will cover the rest of the neighborhoods that remain to be covered in the urban areas of the District. This would be the first time that the department of Loreto has received Gen 4 camera updates.

It is a remarkable advancement for Google Peru which previously covered the "PE-8B" Route during November 2022 connecting the province of Rodriguez de Mendoza with the rest of the Department of Amazonas, this time trying to expand much further to the east of the Peruvian Amazon Region.

San Martín

Additionally there have been reports of the Google Car driving through the town of Tocache located in the south of the Department of San Martin, the first time this Peruvian location received coverage was in July 2013, but no updates have been made so far.

The city of Tocache only has the urban center covered and the covered road that connects the town with the Huallaga River, it is expected that Google Peru will cover the rest of the neighborhoods in this town in the Amazon.

Huánuco

Another sighting of the Gen 4 car was also reported driving through the suburbs in the city of Tingo Maria located in the Amazonian part of the Department of Huanuco.

Unlike the other cities in the Peruvian Amazon this one has a good coverage in sidestreets, with the exception of certain suburbs at the ends of the city

The first time Google drove in this city was in May 2013 and the last Gen 3 update was performed in November 2013 in some streets of the urban center. On April 14, 2024 several local media in the city of Tingo Maria had reported sightings of a car with a gen 4 camera circulating through several suburbs of the Peruvian town in Huanuco. Ucayali

At the beginning of May, it was reported that several Google cars were entering to cover part of the areas of the capital of Ucayali, Pucallpa. The last updates of the city date back to mid-2014, this is the first time that urban areas of this Peruvian Department receive proper updates with gen 4 cameras.
