The Abdoulaye Yakhine Diop Mausoleum (French: Mausolée Abdoulaye Yakhine Diop) is a mausoleum located in the Senegalese city of Thiès.

History

The mausoleum located in the neighborhood of Keur Iyakhine and it contains the remains of Abdoulaye Yakhine.[1] The mausoleum features a Zam-zam well, also known as well of mercy, these wells are also found in other religious sites around the Muslim world, this well was installed by the Sheikh in 1918. For Senegalese Muslims, the water is considered blessed.[2] In November 2016, the then mayor of the city of Thiès, Talla Sylla visited the mausoleum.[3] In 2019, according to Cheikh Diagne, Mame Cheikh Ibra Fall reappeared in the mausoleum on November 26, after 3 days of the Grand Magal. Several people such as Cheikh Mor, Khoudia Fall, Seybata Diagne and Sokhna Seybata Seck confirmed seeing the great disciple of Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba at the entrance of the mausoleum.[4] According to the 1997 book African Islam and Islam in Africa: Encounters Between Sufis and Islamists, the mausoleum has five to six disciples who circulate every morning at the religious site, in which their heads are covered with kaalas which are head scarves in the style of Cheikh Amadou Bamba.[5]

The architecture of the interior of the mausoleum is decorated with arabesques and filigree.[6]
