News - Apple is driving in Odisha while Google is testing a new camera in Telangana

2025 has given us several surprises regarding the coverage around India, both Google and Apple have tried to cover new locations throughout 2024 for their mapping services.
Unfortunately, Google has been using low quality cameras to capture the streets of India and it was only until December 2024, which saw the testing of the portable camera around the state of Telangana, on the other hand, Apple has not yet released the images from its street view service but is slowly covering more states in the country, among them Odisha located on the east coast of India.

On January 12, 2025, several users on Instagram reported seeing the Apple Look Around car cruising the streets of Jharsuguda (Odia: ଝାରସୁଗୁଡ଼ା), an industrial city in Odisha. In addition, another Apple Maps vehicle was also spotted on the same day in a more rural area of the state.
According to the official website of Apple Maps, the American company confirmed that it will focus on recording the streets of this state between December 1, 2024 and February 28, 2025.
Regarding Google Street View, a white vehicle carrying a portable camera was spotted around HITEC City in Hyderabad (Telugu: హైదరాబాదు), capital of Telangana state.
Existing Google Street View images in that sector of Hyderbad date from early 2022 to November 2024. This can be confirmed in a video recorded on January 13, 2025 circulating around Road Number 1 near Google's regional offices in Hyderabad.
