In late 2022, a Gen 4 Trekker-equipped car was reported to be circulating around Panama City,[1] and later in the City of David situated in the western part of the country.[2]

In early December 2022, the Google car was reported driving along the Panama City-Colon highway, specifically Route 9.[3] Later in the same month, the Gen 4 trekker-equipped car was reported outside metropolitan areas, specifically circulating around the Inter-American Highway (CA-1) in Veraguas Province.[4] In February 2023, the Gen 4 Trekker was spotted driving on Route 2, specifically in the Santa Maria District located in the north of Herrera Province.[5]

In October 2023, the first official press release about Street View's coverage in Panama was published, Google focused primarily on providing street view first to Panama's UNESCO-listed historic centres, including Arco Chato located at the southern end of the capital's coast, originally scheduled to be covered in November 2022, as well as providing street view of Portobelo's main road in February 2023, where it is possible to see the ruins of the Fort of Santiago. In addition, it was noted that the Google Maps team navigated important roads in Panama Province such as the Calzada de Amador connecting the Flamenco, Naos and Perico Islands, which was covered in April 2023.[6]
