History of Google Street View / Bolivia
In late 2014, it was confirmed that several cars equipped with Google Street View cameras were touring part of the city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra in eastern Bolivia.[1] In January 2015, it was confirmed that several Google Street View cars were touring part of the city of La Paz.[2]
In July of the same year, it was reported that the cars were touring the city of Sucre and other parts of the Department of Chuquisaca.[3] In November 2015, Google officially announced that it has added coverage for two South American countries, Ecuador and Bolivia specifically.[4]
In April 2016, the official account of Bolivia Travel announced more information about Google's collaboration with the Vice Ministry of Tourism on behalf of the Ministry of Cultures and Tourism of Bolivia, photographed tourist in 10 Bolivian cities and authorized the filming of several monuments and historical sites such as Tiwanaku in the Department of La Paz.[5]
Other tourist sites captured by trekkers in Bolivia included part of Copacabana and Titicaca Lake, in addition to the Uyuni Salt Flats.[6] In September 2016, following World Tourism Day, Google officially announced views of many more tourist sites around Bolivia, including images at the El Alto International Airport located in the Department of La Paz.[7]
